Software stinks |
|
The device might be usable but the software stinks and there is no way to find the drivers for it on line that didn't appear to require paying for it all over again. It needs updated device driver. Cannot recommend. Throwing mine away. |

Doesn't work with 64-bit AMD processor |
Never was able to use this, it doesn't work on my computer. I have been working with someone from Argraph, the manufacturer via email for a couple of weeks trying to make it work, in the end they said this scanner has problems on some HP systems. Definitely didn't work on mine. They pointed to the 64 bit AMD processor as the problem, even though it is supposed to work with 64-bit systems. Other issues include:
- Poor instructions
- Poor error flagging / response. No indication is given when there are issues and it won't function - it just sits there making you wonder if it is working or not.
- Technical Support was very difficult to access. No phone numbers or email addresses with the shipped product, I hooked up with them by sending an email to their sales email address, which was all I could find on their website.
Would have loved to try this, will keep looking around. |

Really hard to use |

The picture makes it look like it just feeds your slides thru but No. You have to push the tray to the next position and manually mess around with it. I guess it would be ok if you have the time but frankly the Epson scanner I was trying to replace is just as quick, so you lose the advantage of the "snapshot" jpeg. |

You get as good as your source |
Bought this to scan over 2,000 slides, some over 40 years old. Software installation is not intuitive, but fairly easy. Slide holder is cumbersome but once you figure out how to load the slides is not too bad (open the slide tray and load slides upside down in the TOP tray). You can only scan/transfer three slides per tray. The quality is not digital because the source (slides) are not digital. However, slides deteriorate over time and I wanted to save them before it's too late. Scanned picture quality is OK but don't expect digital HD results! So far I've scanned over 1,000 slides. It's time-consuming. Tried scanning color negatives but haven't gotten that feature to work yet - maybe I'll look at the PDF instructions (last resort of course!) For the money it's OK. When I scan in all my slides I'll have an obsolete piece of equipment.
Update: Scanning negatives works. Once you transfer them to a file, use a photo editor and click on "Negative" which turns the negative image into a positive image (nowhere in the directions could I find this - I just experimented). Results are sharper than scanning slides. |
