Quick and easy |
I purchased this to scan slides and negatives while visiting my parents. I was able to scanned several hundred images in just a few hours, which was much faster than doing print photos on a flatbed scanner. I should have had canned air available to get any fine dust off prior to scanning, although it was an issue only on a fraction of the slides.
I was also able to use it as a card reader to move files back and forth from an SD card.
Overall, it was a really good value. I wasn't able to scan everything while on vacation, but the compact size made it easy to bring home with me to finish the job. |

Re-living over 40 years!! |
|
We are having so much fun going through and saving old 35 mm slides. As most, we had accumulated zillions of slides and the process is time consuming, but certainly not boring. The Wolverine converter is extremely easy to use. If you are picky about your pictures, you cannot change the lightness, darkness, fuzziness, etc. What you see is what you get but being able to save these on a CD or thumbnail for future generations is what you want. One suggestion - sort through your slides ahead of time. We put everything in piles by year. Others have done by special occasion. |

45 minutes a tray! |
|
After attempting to use 2 other computer supported scanners with little success, I found this little scanner on Digitalphotokeychain.net. WOW! I can zip through a carousel of slides in 45 minutes. The quality of the scan is the same as the quality of the original image. So, some of the scans are fabulous, and some are "throw aways". However, the joy of seeing pictures of events long gone and family no longer with me is incalculable. Don't procrastinate about getting those big boxes out of the closet/basement/attic any further. Get this little toy and start scanning! |

Great gadget |
|
I was concerned about buying this item after reading the reviews, but knowing that I really wanted to get my dad's slides in digital format, I threw caution to the wind. Well, I shouldn't have been concerned...this gadget is great and so, so easy. I have already scanned three trays of slides and am very, very happy with the process and the quality of the images. Of course, much is dependent upon the quality of the slides themselves, if the image on the slide is dark, then the digital image is going to be dark also. I have successfully used Picasa to adjust red-eye, contrast, etc. on the images from dad's slides which are over 60 years old. It's a pretty quick process too...It only takes about 30-40 minutes to scan 150 slides. Then just upload them to your computer and you can share them with family, friends by uploading them to the web or burn a CD/DVD. |

Good if you only have a few slides |
The product works ok in scanning regular 35mm slides. One immediate issue is that it is not
designed to scan the 'instamatic' type slides which are square. You end up losing the top
and the bottom of the picture.
I called the vendor to see if they had a slide tray for that type of slide and they said no.
But they said I can manually push in the slide. I tried this, but the picture will still end up
getting cropped, you can push the slide around to crop the part you want least.
So with that limitation, and the prospect of at least six boxes of slides to review, this will
not work for me. I am going to look for a scanner with an auto load and that can handle the
square slide type. |
