Thanks to the Bell and Howell keychain digital camera, your memories are just a quick little snap away. Smaller than a credit card, this incredible innovation lets you tak photographs less than one megapixel quickly and easily. Fast and easy to download, it can even be used as a webcam. Takes up to 80 photos and has self timers. Requires one "AAA" battery, included. Measures 2.25"L x .5"W x 1.5"H. |

Pretend "toy" |
This little camera's packaging is impressive! It doesn't say toy but it is infact a pretend toy. It has a fresh battery but press the mode button after installing drivers and you get nothing! The only time anything comes up in the mode screen is when it's connected to the computer. So take out the battery and give it to the little ones. They can pretend all day that they are taking pictures. I'll warn you though, it's an awefully expensive pretend toy.
THIS ITEM IS A WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!! |

Sells for $10 at Walgreens |
|
This identical camera sells for $10 on Walgreens (probably even less on sale). $40+ price is just crazy. |

the only way to get your money's worth with this is to... |
...take a sledgehammer to it. The anger therapy is cheaper than going to a shrink.
One of the selling points on this product is its light-weight material. Translation: plastic. It gets worse from there. It will run an Energizer AAA battery dead in about two weeks even if it isn't storing pictures. Sometimes the software will tell you the camera is empty when it isn't (and after trying to reboot the computer, etc, the only way I was able to fix this was to delete all the pictures and retake them).
The viewfinder is a joke, you are better off guessing by pointing the camera at something and hoping. Broad daylight is the very best conditions for shooting; indoor lighting at night comes out terrible (almost looks like an artistic sepia-tone super-gritty filter), and directed bright lighting either won't be bright enough or goes straight into washed-out territory. You can see what I'm talking about in the three customer-submitted images I added to the product image shots.
If you take the battery out, it will lose all the pictures. Because the case is a cheap piece of plastic, it can be possible to lose the battery cover (it's quite loose for something that important) and/or jolt the camera too much and lose the pictures. I am not confident enough in the product to actually take it somewhere outdoors for a while and hope it survives back to my PC in time to get the questionable-quality pictures out of it. And speaking of travelling, the little fake-leather carrying case that comes with it fits so tightly over the camera that it depresses the Mode button, and will run the battery out in no time flat.
Basically, you're buying a $10 keychain that looks like a camera and eats batteries for breakfast. |

Stay Away from these cameras!!!! Read more inside... |
The Vivitar Mini Digital Camera fails and loses all pictures 50% of the time if you do not transfer them in a timely manner. I would wait one whole day, 24 hours, and find out that the camera has NO PICTURES on it. The software works fine, reads the camera, says there are no pictures on camera. The camera confirms this too. Tried new batteries, same problem. I wrote this to save people the headache of figuring out that the memory requires a charge to sustain pictures.
